Indian Paintings - the centre of attraction

Different forms of paintings flourished in India throughout the ages. Mughal painting is a blend of Indian, Persian and Islamic styles while Mysore painting is an important from of classical painting. Tanjore painting is a form of South Indian classical painting and it dates back to the early 9th century. The themes are Gods and Goddesses and saints as well. Decoration is done with semi-precious stones, laces and threads and gold foils are also pasted.

The Bengal School of Art flourished during the British Raj in the early 20th century. It was promoted both by Indian artists as well as British Art Schools. Modern Indian Art type depicts the influence of Western styles but is inspired by Indian themes. Indian paintings portray the rich heritage and culture of the country along with a myriad of colors and styles.
